Liam was born
in Burnage, Manchester (England) on September 21, 1972. He was born as William John
Paul Gallagher. Will? Willy? Nah! Liam. Defintely Liam. Anyways, when he was young he
was called the Weetabix Kid, because of his criminal instinct.
Liam hit a 10-year-period in his life where he hated music. He would make fun of musicians and stuff like that. To think, now he's a lead singer for one heck of a great band. As a child he was mentally abused by his father (as were his brothers). Liam was raised catholic for the early part of his life. At 12 years of age his parents divorced and his mother left the catholic religion behind.
At
the pub he was considered a pretty good singer. Guigs and
Bonehead ask him to join their band, as you know, he did.
Their band was originally called The Rain. Then, Liam saw a poster on
the wall of his room that said oasis, he named the band Oasis instead
of The Rain.
Sometime later his brother Noel, came and told him and
the others (Bonehead, Guigsy, and former drummer, Tony
McCarrol) that he wanted to take over the band. Liam said
ok and... Oasis, as we know it, was born. They were playing local pubs,
and clubs for awhile, Liam singing his heart out. When
the crew stummbled onto a gig at King Tut's Wah
Wah Hut (What a
name, huh!). Liam was wearing completely white clothes.
His white clothes attracted the attention of a record
dealer, who'd stopped at the pub. They had a record deal
within days.
